Salary Range: $19–$21/hour DOE and certification, plus benefits. PRC certification carries an additional $1/hour premium. $2.50/hour on-call pay.
General Information:
This is a full-time position that reports to the Executive Director and closely collaborates with other staff and volunteers.
Summary:
The focus of this position is to provide recovery coaching, grow our Recovery Coach program participation and work with our Coordinator of Volunteers to support our interns and Recovery Peer Volunteers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• One on one coaching and support to those in need
• Respond as needed to referrals from community stakeholders
• The Recovery Coach must have lived experience of recovery and maintain stable, long-term recovery; two years preferred
• Recovery Coach must be willing to share their story of recovery as inspiration to others
• Work regularly with law enforcement and community partners
• Participate in regular coaching supervision
• Collect data and complete reports in a timely manner
• The Recovery Coach should be able to take direction, be prompt, take initiative, complete tasks as assigned, and be able to work effectively as part of a team that includes community stakeholders
• The Recovery Coach should be articulate, and have good communication skills
• The Recovery Coach will adhere to the IBADCC Recovery Coach Code of Ethics
• The Recovery Coach should have at minimum a basic understanding of:
- The concept of recovery as it relates to behavioral health
- Peer support (Recovery Coaching)
- Wellness and recovery planning
• Must be available to work some evenings
• Monthly on-call crisis center response shift
• Other tasks as assigned
Volunteer Support Responsibilities:
Work with Coordinator of Volunteers to assist interns and Recovery Peer Volunteers.
Job Relationships:
The Recovery Coach shall attend regular staff meetings, other meetings and classes as scheduling permits. Must be able to work independently AND as part of a team.
Qualification Requirements/Education and/or Experience:
Recovery Coach training required, or must be completed within three months of hire. P-PRC or PRC certification preferred.
High school diploma or GED required.
Must be able to pass state background check.
Language Skills:
Excellent written and verbal English is required.
Mathematical and Computer Skills:
Knowledge of basic Google and Microsoft Office programs (MSWord, Excel, Gmail, etc.) strongly preferred.
Ethical Considerations:
• The Recovery Center believes in Harm Reduction approaches, and maintains a naloxone, condom and safer sex supply.
• Confidentiality protocol applies to all interactions with participants and co-workers. Confidentiality involves maintaining secure consumer and internal agency information. Federal confidentiality rules (42 C.F.R. Part 2) and HIPAA (45 C.F.R. §164-502) apply.
• Political and social awareness are necessary professional characteristics required by the unique nature of work in a recovery community center atmosphere.
